Liberals don’t multiply genetically. They use the education system to turn the children of the most committed conservatives into rabid libtards. Conservatism is not hereditary. So many conservative families kids have been brainwashed into leftism

Just like how gays reproduce, going after kids to corrupt them, either by m*l*station or brainwashing them to be LGBT via j** propaganda.

Just a little insight from a Brazilian, the protestant church has been gaining traction in Brazil for the last 20-30 years. These protestants / Baptists are complete unorganized, they are extremely disconnected from faith and I would say that they are in a way much more damaging to our world than non-practitioners catholics, not only they are extremely jewish/zionist centric, they completely distort the teachings to fuel zog politics.

Brazil in opposition to the American reality had never had any racial segregation whatsoever (even though we were the country in the Americas that enslaved the most, but then, we enslaved everyone, Africans, Asians, Europeans and so on) different from America that had way more emphasis in race slavery. until some years ago and I kid you not, there was not any racism in Brazil.

Homosexuality as well, we barely had homosexuals here until we started consuming US culture,

It was only recently (30-40 years) that we started importing all these problems from America while consuming their culture, truth to be told, the western world is and always has been completely disconnected to the teachings of Christ. the new world was destiny to be ruined from the start

Thank you for this Keith! An optimistic antidote to a fit of melancholia. Statistics reveal the most unexpected trends! And it is great to have people like you unearthing them and then explicating them for us!

Maybe populations are like organisms and human individuals are merely their cells--or not. If a cell is cut off from the organism--like an alienated individual--it has less purpose and reason to thrive and reproduce. But the organism--the healthy, coherent society--has a vitality all its own. Even if many members die in war or plague, if the coherent society has a sense of identity and purpose--perhaps even *enhanced* by the threats of war or plague--it will bounce back and thrive. Perhaps this explains the success of the various religious human "organisms" at reproduction. It certainly seems to explain the sterility of the atomized affluent detritus of the liberal west. Why should they reproduce if they don't even have any serious reason to live in the first place!

Excellent write-up on one of the most transformative changes of our time. While most who care about these things emphasize the quantitative changes in the global population and externals like economics, I like how the article highlights qualitative changes.

Like it or not, liberal whites are the whitest of white people because of their universalism, which is the same thing as individualism. That means, on the other side of modernity, surviving natalist whites will have preferences for power distance and group orientation closer to African and Asian populations. This will occur with or without mass migration. Both cultural and scientific creativity will be lost in the transition, as all whites of the future, like the subset of deracinated whites today, will look at the art, music, literature, and technology of Faustian civilization with incomprehension, like an Egyptian ruin. For example, the organ for millions of people no longer sounds kaleidoscopic, like liquid stained glass, but something from a horror movie.

Conservatives find solace in cyclical history because it is a cope, a nostalgic dream of returning to a civilizational ascent, but that's not in the cards. The whites of the future will be us, but they won't be *us*.

Sorry but libtard whites neither create nor appreciate art. It's just surrogate activity for them to fill out the void. Richard wagner was an antisemite nazi unironically

The philosopher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan liked to contrast how Western thought attempts to redeem the world individualistically -- Prometheus, Socrates, Odysseus, Christ, etc. -- with Indian philosophy's more holistic focus on God, the absolute, and purity of soul. Similarly, Feng Guifen, a Chinese scholar during the Qing dynasty, explained Anglo success in terms of “the necessary accord of word with deed” of its people. That's universalism.

In his book Cultures and Organizations, Geert Hofstede, an IBM employee, shared an illuminating anecdote about a Dutch missionary in Indonesia who struggled to explain the Parable of the Two Sons (Matt 21:28-32 KJV) to the natives. In this parable, a father asks his two sons to work in the vineyard. One son agrees but doesn't follow through, while the other refuses but eventually does the work. Most Westerners praise the second son's actions and blame the first son since he says he will do something and doesn't. In a collectivist culture like Indonesia, the first son's behavior is the right choice. This is because he prioritized social harmony, avoided public disrespect towards his father, and allowed everyone to maintain their dignity by saving face.

Individualism/universalism is a defining characteristic of white Western culture. This is evident in various forms of art, where a central element is always highlighted against a background—such as character and plot in literature, melody and harmony in music, and perspective in painting. This emphasis on the individual is a key aspect of our discussion on individualistic and collectivist cultural perspectives.

As Woods mentioned, liberals are more individualistic, so a society with fewer liberals will be ipso facto less individualistic and less "white" in a behavioral sense, even though people will still have white skin. Let's make sure we don't get "direction-brain" and make this an ideological thing—we will be looking at less individualistic left-wing and right-wing whites all around. Our descendants will not breed individualistic men like Wagner; we aren't even capable of doing so today. I know from personal experience that the music and physics communities strongly lean left, so I'm not sure how Wagner's visceral dislike of the bagel people connects with this.

"liberalism is now dying—everywhere."

Except it's not. Number of females identifying as liberal is exploding, with males identifying as liberal is slightly increasing, drawing mostly from the unaligned middle.

A huge part of why pop is declining is that it has been a conscious goal of those who run things. As you note, culture is most important for birth rate, and Western culture for many decades has pushed lower population as a good thing. e.g., your pic of the Nat Geo cover.

Birth rates have been going down in the west since before Marx. There are many confounding variables.

No need to implement 1 child policies in 1st world countries, birth rates there decrease naturally. Only Africa has very high birth rates.

Money will work, but you need a commitment at least as big as we have with social security/medicare. If you’re spending more on retirees then you are on children you get what you pay for.

Further, you don’t pay for “child care”. Who wants to have a bunch of kids just to send them off to daycare all day? What’s the point of having kids you don’t see? Give people cash and let them decide how to spend it. What we spend on k-12 alone, if given out as cash, would increase the birth rate.

It’s an excellent essay in several regards, but ultimately the first third seems incongruent with the remaining two-thirds, leaving its thesis a bit muddled. Hopefully you will produce further installments rounding out your analysis on this vital issue.

It seemed you start off arguing that capitalist economic development is driving falling birth rates, which left me thinking of arguments that feminism and the decline of traditional cultures are closer to the proximate cause. After all, the rise of feminism takes place in the same era as Western/global income rose. It would seem that changes in female lifestyle would more understandably drive changes in birth rates more than overall income. I think it’s easy to imagine a parallel universe where capitalism advances but feminism never does, or does so in a different form, such that birth rates do not decrease, and even increase.

Ditto for the totality of abandonment in traditional cultures worldwide. What if they, in their various forms, intrinsically promote relations leading to births in ways we don’t fully appreciate. This is not as speculative as it may seem, for example, there are many species of animals that when transferred into captivity, i.e. subjected to radical change in their traditional way of life, simply stop breeding.

Feminism and the radical abandonment of traditional cultures may also explain the other phenomena you aptly cite as evidence of alienation, nihilism and despair: Western mental health crisis, loneliness crisis, Flynn effect, obesity, and addiction.

But then you suddenly shift to a different argument writing “The alienated, secular, modern worldview, unmoored from traditional beliefs which sacralized the mundane, simply lacks the capacity to vitalize populations.”

The remainder of your essay essentially argues that religiosity and ethnic pride are more proximate drivers of birthrates than capitalist economic development as evidenced by the higher birth rates of those sub-groups of modernity that better retained their traditional culture. So, in the end it, seems you believe it is not rising income or capitalist economic development, but cultural changes that are driving population decline. While they may have all been delivered in the same time frame, they are distinct phenomena, with different causes, and differing solutions.

I do wish you would have analyzed some Middle Eastern cultures who are notoriously religious, and homogeneously so, and which experienced differing levels of economic development and cultural change, and reported your findings in comparison to that of the West. Maybe such is material for a future installment.

There is always a critique to be made, nonetheless this is an excellent essay, full with great sources and insightful observations. I look forward to your future installments on this issue.

A very important contribution!

The dichotomy of left vs right as secular individualism vs religious collective isn't quite right. You can have spiritual individualism which leads to liberalism. This explains the US/pluralists being more "religious".
