James Connolly eventually gave up on international socialism which is why he did the Rising. After the failure of the Dublin lockout and the failure of socialists to be against WW1, he turned to nationalism. As show in Dublin Burning: The Easter Rising from Behind the Barricades by W. J. Brennan-whitmore [the only biography of the Rising by a senior participant]: "His first disillusionment came with the 1913 Dublin strike. he was by no means as adequately supported in that dispute as he had right to expect from his world comrades. Then the utter collapse of all this tall talk on the outbreak of the First World War must've been a shock to a man of Connolly's temperment...he sought out the solitude of the countryside whilst he fought out the issue with his own consious. Is it any wonder that on his return he should exclaim "I've been through hell!"...he had fought the matter out in the bitterness of his own heart, and there was no more to be said...He no longer held to a personal dream of the 'Workers Republic' but placed himself and his followers under the leadership of the Brotherhood...In hardship, hunger and toil he had faithfully followed a particular road only at journey's end to find it led to a futile illusion. He no longer looked towards and laborued for a single class, but gave his life to the whole nation. 'When we strike,' he had said, 'we will no longer be Irish Volunteers and Citizen Army, but only the Irish Republican Army.'

Austen Morgan wrote a whole biography that was "revolutionary" in that it took this international socialist+nationalist myth and he summarised the message in this article, which shows how he directly changed from being a hard-line Marxist materialist against militant republicanism because you needed exactly 51%+ support for your revolution to work, to being offered to join the IRB as they thought his nationalism had become so militant that he would do his own rebellion with only 50 Citizen Army members. Morgan, Austen (1988). "Connolly and Connollyism: The Making of a Myth". The Irish Review (1986-) (5): 44–55. doi:10.2307/29735380. ISSN 0790-7850.

The only reason we know Connolly today is because he STOPPED being a international socialist and became a traditional Irish nationalist, but leftists only acknowledge his early work as an excuse to go further and further left as time goes on, similar to their myth of Wolfetone somehow creating the Irish nation [to once again choose his liberalism [which was intricately tied to nationalism at the time] over his nationalism. This myth of "Republicanism" i.e. leftism spreads further and further and takes away the reality of Irish nationalism as time goes on.

Imagine if Mussolini died in WW1. His body of work would be hard-left, wheras he obviously made a signifigant shift in supporting the war. Saying Mussolini was a "socialist" in the usual Marxist/leftist meaning of the term is just as bad as saying James Connolly was a "socialist" [leftist]. He died and Irish Nationalist.

Also besides the JSTOR article I posted, there's also the article "James Connolly and the Easter Rising by John Newsinger" Science & Society, Vol. 47, No. 2 (Summer, 1983), pp. 152-177 (26 pages) https://www.jstor.org/stable/40402480 --- which is where the materialist thing I referenced is on page 5 [of the article itself, 155 of the journal ting it's in] "At every election, this party would "afford a plebiscite of the people for or against the republic" and would be able to ascertain "with mathematical accuracy the moment when the majority of the Irish people were ripe for revolution"" ... "Whereas the emancipation of the Irish working class and the winning of freedom for Ireland had once been inseparably linked in his thinking, he now believed the working class too had betrayed Ireland, had sold its soul for a mess of pottage and could only be redeemed by blood sacrifice" ... "In this way he pledged the working class, or rather those few of its members who would follow his lead, to sacrifice themselves for the very republican tradition that he had subjected to such searching criticism from a socialist standpoint ..."For all practical purposes Connolly had abandoned the world of socialist politics for the imaginary landscape of Pearse's messianic nationalism and substituted rhetorical excess for calm analysis."

Keith didn’t you pen an article regarding Connolly’s racial views? I’m sure I remember one

A common usually good natured jibe you'll hear in rural parts of Ireland about someone who has 'immigrated' from another part of the country is that he's a 'blow-in'. As a Dubliner living in Mayo I know what this feels like. It carries an interesting insight though that I don't think is given enough airtime when we speak about national identity and that is our connection to the land. The phrase 'blow-in' immediately demarcates a line between those who have lived on a patch of land for generations and those who haven't. It suggests a connection with the land that is more than just physical or geographical. It's a deeply spiritual even existential connection and only those with a generations long connection to the land can experience it. This is not so true of someone from a neighboring county as it is of someone from a neighboring country.

In the city you'll be often asked 'What do you do?' but in the country you're more likely to be asked 'Where are you from?' The sense of place and identity runs deep and it's not just an Irish thing. Wherever you are born on this planet and whatever tribes and clans of that place you grow up in has a crucial bearing on your identity. That identity has an umbilical connection to the place you were born. The uprooting of peoples from one place and their plantation in another is more often forced through poverty, starvation or war. Severing the connection with place has the potential to seriously undermine the healthy human spirit and soul of one who doesn't freely seek it.

Globalists despise this connection with the land that is such a rich one for humanity. The current globalist attack on humanity through plantations throughout the western world have this sacred connection as one of their targets. They clearly want to destroy it as it prevents their goal of one world government. They would have us draw our identity as global citizens from their global institutions. They are insane. So while the article does a magnificent job in attacking the ideological supports Irish globalists have fabricated I feel we should also emphasise our heartfelt connection to this wonderful place.

In the very near future, things will begin to get awkward for these traitors, opportunists and careerists, who today would say or support literally ANYTHING to get ahead, earn higher salaries, and look in the mirror with admiration at what caring and compassionate types they are.

It will become awkward when any number of their loved ones become victims of rape, assault, armed robbery and murder. When their grown children cannot find employment corresponding to their education levels and qualifications, because dramatically underqualified Africans and other non-Irish, non-WHITE candidates are given preference for the best jobs.

This is what has been happening in the United States for many years now. This is the reason for the "competency crisis" that has airliners falling apart in midair and "judges" issuing ludicrous decisions based on race revenge. There are minority judges and district attorneys in the U.S. who are not qualified for any job other than working on the sales floor in retail. Such is the assured result of the virtue-signaling, insincere compassion and false egalitarianism of the morally bankrupt left. May they soon face tribunals, if it be God's will.

Good read, but this line of argument is probably fruitless for most people. There’s an obvious parallel between Irish and Québécois (and Scottish now that I think about it) nationalism to be made here, which is that they’re primarily motivated by resentment towards England. This will never change and thus there will always be a pernicious socialist element.

Having watched the IRA in the 70s and 80s, and the Catholics/Protestants kill each other in the 80s and 90s, the attempt to change Irish history is insulting to me. It wasn't a multiracial ireland that was fighting, it was white irish against white irish and english.

The jacknape politicians need to get over this communist bullshit of multiracial diversity and realize that homogenous societies a stronger.

Balkanized countries always tear themselves apart, always.

Don't believe me? America is doing it now, with each race out for themselves and not for the country as a whole.

Hallo Keith.

I was very impressed by your last two essays. Scholarship indeed. I am green with envy. Hopefully, becoming a paid subscriber, will return me to my normal color.

I'm a 73 year old plastic paddy, born and raised in London. My parents came over from Cork back in 39. They took me back to Ireland for a short visit at the age of ten. Apart from that I have no experience of Ireland. I began blogging in the comments sections of the Daily Telegraph , Spectator, Guardian etc, together with other ethno-nationalist such as Morgoth and Guessedworker and many others from 2006 until the Great Purge of 2013. So that's me.

All the best

Really fascinating stuff.

It's a tragedy how much the Irish political class has sold out the Irish people. Ireland shouldn't have this problem because it has a very clear ethnic and cultural conception of nationhood, unlike the US or to a lesser extent Britain, but that seems to have changed nothing. Britain and Ireland were historically enemies, but I think many of the issues we now face are the same, and I hope the Irish people are able to reassert their national sovereignty.

I've been enjoying your work especially as of late, and you may have moved me on the JQ. I didn't know anybody who articulated it better than you, and indeed it is a factor that cannot be ignored.

I'd really like you to do an analysis of the Irish Right at the present time, because it's not something the rest of the Anglosphere hears much about. There seems to be a lot of grassroots anger but no one party has been able to become 'the party' to represent the Irish people against mass immigration. Connor McGregor in my mind should have started his own party instead of stating he'd run for the powerless position of President.

Ireland's kind of fertile ground for an ethno-nationalist movement, particularly as Catholicism has died down and is waiting to be replaced with another conception of Irishness.

I would highly advise moving more to keith on the JQ. Walter Bismarck might genuinely think whites now have the cards and jews can still be useful but he's dead wrong on both counts. He's letting his high energy nature just flow with ideas to drop in articles without letting them actually get tested to see if they withstand proper scrutiny ahead of time. Whites are absolutely in no position to negotiate their own national interests and Jews will absolutely not be considering any arrangement that sabotages the result of decades long efforts to defang white majorities of their power as majorities, and their ability to consolidate groups towards common national interests. Jews are far more fearful of their ability to corral whites than they are of other groups. This win of theirs is not something that came easy and there's no greater thing we can give them in exchange for it short of a genocidal nukefest in the MENA. And they have a deep seated insecurity that nobody is capable of fixing.

If whites need higher IQ populations, assortative mating will solve that issue and dispense with the need to "absorb" Jews which is not going to happen by their volition (to the extent it is, it nullifies any need to make an arrangement with them anyways.) Furthermore, if whites lack enough highly effective, agentic high IQ people, the reality is we're going to need to fix the fertility issue and we were going to have to do that anyways in the long run.

This is not to say its absolutely necessary to jump in with white nationalists. It could be good, it could be not-good. But Jews can be useful in certain siloed ways. If one is a professor of physics making discoveries that end up in quanta magazine I think we're all fine with that. If another is a diamond merchant I feel nobody cares. A hasid who stays in his insular neighborhood and obeys the law is fine. The lobbyist who drags the nations resources to defend a strategically indefensible(see Christopher Caldwell for this) parasitical "state" among a sea of hostile levantines is not. Neither is the pornographer. Nor the woke-normalizer, the society de-constructor. Blacks aren't harmful when a very heavy hand of law enforcement is applied to them. They don't seem to have the urge to outbreed other ethnic groups. If blacks can be de-fanged, if whites have been de-fanged...

Would be great if the Irish could speak their own language of Gaelic. I mean as their first language.

Irish should speak Irish, not English.

Dude, come on. Do you have a brain that can do any self-reflection? It hurts you if you try to do that? Ofc you are a racist. I am a racist. If I see my country's team getting replaced by other race I'd call it a bad thing too. But that makes you a fucking racist. But I admit it.

You are biased against a group of people solely on their race, not on their individual merits or character. And you just call any one who calls you a racist a hater or seething or whatever? You are stupid. Will you say America is sad because the native Indians are completely replaced? Ofc you wouldn't, because you are a stupid racist trying to be hypocratic. If you are just a racist, without that pretention and hypocracy, you'd actually be less gross. You are humiliated by a person with almost no follower by the way. You are like a wanna-be Jew, who tries to spread a Jew-like hateful culture. But you lack their deapths, and you just mimic their stupid hatred towards others.
