Almost as bad as the Dissident Right’s pathetic love affair with shitty minority-led Syrian governments that regularly get their ass kicked by Israel, just because they are backed by the Kremlin, which has also sold them crappy air defence systems.

AQ is Israel’s ally? Israeli interesting.

Truly terrible article as usual Woods. Nothing in your first section to any degree proves that Israel supported extreme jihadis AT ALL much less that they have a 'love affair' with them. I know 'moderate rebels' are a meme, but it is a fact that the Syrian conflict is multifaceted and not all rebel forces are extremist. The only two pieces of concrete evidence you provide are that among the civilians medically treated by Israel, some were al Nusra; and that one think tank stated that the defeat of ISIS was not a priority for Israel if it strengthens the Axis of Resistance. The first is totally not adequate as evidence, the latter is obvious and not a mystery, anybody could've told you that with a basic primer of Israeli strategic objectives. As for the second section, it's clownish, two randos saying 'thanks' to Israel for unwittingly weakening Assad while fighting Hizbollah does not constitute evidence that jihadis love Jews. In any case, the article literally does not address the completely obvious point that Israel EXPLICITLY DOES NOT WANT Assad to collapse despite some Israeli opining it sometimes, unlike the US. That is its policy.

What about the fact he references Electronic Intifada as a credible source

Great article Keith. Your book has been great so far. 2 minor typos slipped through, but top notch

Great article Keith. It would cool to see you have a conversation with someone like T777 about the developments in Syria.

totally wrong. israel are hoping for the best with HTS. they don't know what to expect. and HTS could build themselves into a new proxy if the world starts accepting them. this article completely omits the fact that israel took out assads regime and left HTS with no arsenal. it's a complete false narrative this article. quite daft actually and the pieces and clips you took here and there are not explained properly. israel is a democratic country - they always help anyone injured from anywhere with their hospitals. even sinwar was helped. the hospitals in israel are legally not allowed to turn people away

Grammar issue (U.S. MSM origin):

"...ran" or "...has run".

Can't be both.

I also don’t understand why the Assad regime was so anti-Israel. Can anyone explain this? Why wouldn’t they seek an anti-Sunni alliance?

Clumsy pieces like this is probably why you're not getting the recognition that serious young conservative journalists with Irish ties are getting like Michael Murphy.

Please stop embarrassing yourself, clearly clueless on middle eastern affairs. Even the terminology you use makes no sense. "Zionism" is an irrelevant term since Israel already exists and has existed for a long time. "Genocide" is a cheap smear that's been debunked a million times over. Please.

Expand full comment

Debunked? Amnesty few days ago has confirmed that what Israel is doing is genocide. And as for Zionism, Israelis are literally proud to be Zionists.

Expand full comment

bro got ratioed on substack 😭

Expand full comment

LMAO if you think Amnesty is a credible source of information. They've literally changed the definition of the term because "genocide" makes for a catchy and easily processed headline for their audience. Even if you talk the obviously fake Hamas death stats it makes no sense.

As for "Zionism" it just means they believe they have a right to exist safely in their own country after many generations of persecution, just like the Irish, duh. 🙄

Do you know what Zionism means and when and where it originated from?

I do but I can't wait to hear your IslamoNazi conspiracy theory. 🙄🤦

But if ever you feel like learning some basic facts:

Many centuries ago (+-6) in the same territory I currently slave on, the herd that lived here hunted jews and didn't want anything to do with them.

It seems clear that some is extra wrong with the uman animals that embrace that religion/mindset.

Well, embracing any type of religious mindset is in itself a manifestation of unbalance, which can be easily observed.
