> we need migrants to pay for pensions

> 5 million migrants arrive

> we can't afford pensions, welfare or just about anything

Bit ageist m8.

If money comes from old white pensioners and is given to young brown foreigners, I want the white folk to keep it.

Simple as.

Just ignoring that mass immigration is itself part of the Boomer economic model: importing young workers to prop up pensions, inflate asset values and keep the Ponzi scheme running

Halftrolling's avatar

Why not, and hear me out, let the young whites keep their money.

I know this sounds crazy but just think about it for a few minutes.

What will happen in the UK, as in the U.S., when the non-White younger voters clash with the elderly White voters? Here in the states I don't think the sacred Social Security system will last much longer with a majority of people paying in being nons and the vast majority of recipients being old White people.

Social security and Medicare have been politically weaponized here in the States for decades to get the boomer vote while tying it to “GDP must go up” via mass immigration or job destroying schemes like NAFTA.

For both the UK and US it’s the result of the “nation as an economic zone” bullshit that boomers overwhelmingly have and still support.

The fathers are the kings of their families. When they abused their privileges and disdained their subjects, their children, wonder not that they will end their lives in the bitter madness of King Lear.

So Restore were not running but "boomers win again" who were they supposed to vote for, no one and let greens or some alliance win and shit on them harder???

Point is every party was guaranteeing their interests

You seem to forget that they paid into the system all their working lives and many retired people don’t get the full State Pension. It’s not free money.Illegals get everything totally free and most will probably never work, just churn out babies for the state to support. You sound quite bitter about older people having paid for their homes and you seem quite envious.Remember, this wealth will trickle down to the next generation and that will give them a head start.

Keith Woods's avatar

Wrong! They did not “pay into” a personal pension pot. Today’s pensions are paid by today’s workers. Old people "paid for their homes" at FAR lower prices, benefited enormously from decades of housing price gains, then pulled the ladder up behind them “It will trickle down eventually” is not much comfort to people priced out of adulthood in their twenties and thirties. Your sense of entitlement is incredible

Many of today's pensioners will also collect pensions greatly in excess of their contributions owing to increased lifespans.

They’ve earned their wages. The state pension is a benefit. If they need benefits, put them on regular benefits.

Under-reported is the fact that these elections were pretty unconvincing for Reform. The difference between maybe just scraping a majority and being just one of several parties in a hung parliament with between 100 and 200 seats is their ability to break through vs the Tories in the Midlands and south of England, which they have thoroughly failed to do. They will be nowhere near power based on this set of elections. Plenty can change, of course, before the next election (assuming there is one), but will it be to their advantage?

Nobody was talking about winter payments. And describing boomers as millionaires is a bit rich. What do you expect them to do? Sell their home to a foreigner and live in a cardboard box?

Jack Mulholland's avatar

I think I probably have a general political worldview as far removed from yours as can be, but fuck me if you were a politician id vote for you if you just committed to scrapping the triple lock, absolutely suicidal politics

knownpassenger's avatar

Just be glad the older generation are still kicking, because without them we would be much closer to green party hegemony. If things are not fixed before the boomers are gone, then I fear its probably too late.

Young people don’t vote for shit and the boom booms vote like crazy.
