I'm a boomer but don't have a dog in this fight. One factor Mr. Woods might like to chew on is the lopsided allocation of government spending between the kids and the old people. There was a Governor of Colorado in the US who amazingly had the guts to talk about this. I forget his name. He pointed out that the government spent more on the last 6 months of life than on the first SIX YEARS of life. The reason? The elderly have the vote. Kids - for good reason - do not. No other species subordinates the interests of the chicks in the nest to the interests of the dying birds.
Absolutely no better example of this than the Covid-19 panic, where we literally sacrificed the health and interests of the young (keeping them home from school, masking, separation, etc..) to save the old.
I'm probably one of less than .001% of Keith Woods' fans who knows what a "Taig" is! But, fear not, we have a full plate of critical stuff right now and we can't indulge the centuries old White family feud between Loyalist/Protestants and RC/Taigs so I want to live in amity with you. My candidate for Prime Minister of a unified Ireland is Keith Woods. I wish I were optimistic enough to believe that the "geezers" were acting out of corporate racial motives but I think it's just more of the individual selfishness that now is the norm in White societies. It's all about individual financial success, not group loyalty. That's part of why the fecund non-white minorities are winning. They act as a team. We act as individuals. A team will easily defeat a collection of individuals on the football team even if the individuals are more capable.
The ultimate proof of the boomer generation’s contempt for their children, their children’s children, and beyond, is the implementation of reverse mortgages. Most younger generations won’t even inherit their homes because they’ll be on foundations of severe debt they can’t take on or, even worse, won’t be allowed to take on. The worst part of it all is that many boomers don’t even see the consequences of this “free money” they receive by engaging in this practice (or they simply don’t care). Once the boomer generation dies out, most home properties will be the properties of banks. Banks will become the new landlords and it won’t be for the better.
They are way beyond that now, they are reverse mortgaging our civiization We are being for forced into war, absolutely. I for one have no intention of repaying any debt that I have to any institution. Here's a hint: https://substack.com/home/post/p-176424260
You can tell that working age people, specially those under 35-40, are privy to the fact that the rug is being pulled from under them and there will be no pot of gold at the end of their rainbow. A lot of people are turning to increasingly riskier options to try and generate some wealth for their retirement at the same time that they are forced to pay into a system they don't think will see any benefits from. Absolute insanity.
Because it upsets their bullshit “self made” self mythology that is incongruent with all observable reality. In reality, Boomers were the “me generation” who squandered their inheritance and cannibalized their children .
An economic system existed between about 1945-1980. It was largely the same system throughout the Anglosphere.
It was one in which capital was prepared to make concessions to labour in a way was unprecedented.
This was, at least partly, because capital was scared of socialism. Before the rise of the New Left, which diverted organised labour into gay rights, individualism and basketweaving, the threat of socialism/communism was real enough to make employers conciliatory.
It was - in purely economic terms - good times.
Boomers made the best of the system. Why wouldn’t they? They didn’t know it wouldn’t last. They voted for (neoliberal and neoconservative) governments which ended the good times, but they did so because they were duped into thinking things would get even better.
We can hold Boomers accountable for their electoral choices in the 80’s and 90’s. But it’s the economic system that’s the problem, not the Boomers themselves.
If we don’t change the economic system, in 30 years time Gen Alpha will be railing against Millennials, saying ‘you had the chance to fix it, and you didn’t’.
Generational finger pointing makes for good click bait, but it doesn’t fix the underlying structural problems you get with neoclassical economics.. which is really all we’ve had since the Reagan/Thatcher era.
One thing to also look into is the cost of health care. People live longer with multiple illnesses at the same time. This is extremely costly for the health care sector.
The "generation" business is a distraction and a waste of time, since the "generations" are determined arbitrarily and no hard evidence has been supplied as to whether each generation's purported characteristics are cause or effect.
Is the occasional antagonism between the "Boomers" and Gen Omega (or whatever it goes by) very much more than the age-old tension between old and young? Do white Gen Zers have more in common with nonwhites of their own "generation" than with whites of preceding generations?
Like Sam Dickson, I have no interest in defending my contemporaries, and could fault them for more than most younger critics could dream of. But the "generation" game, while amusing, is, like astrology, that favorite of 1979s Boomers, useless for the daunting tasks at hand.
Most of the Boomers I know are making big sacrifices to their children, often getting dragged into caring for grandchildren if they are still physically capable. Many partially pay student fees and living costs so that student debt for their children are decreased.
What I dont relate to is the number of breaks and holidays Boomers (and others too) take, maybe averaging 3 holidays or more a year. Seems excessive.
When it comes to the UK's winter fuel allowance, what do you think was Starmer's motive for making it more means tested before reverting back? Surely considering all the things the Starmer government has done it seems bizarre that Starmer and his cabinet would want to do something that would end up benefiting the younger White workers of the country by not allowing any and all pensioners to claim the benefit?
The motive is Britain's public finances are screwed and they need to cut excess spending, and giving fuel allowance to millionaires is an obvious thing to go after. They reverted because of political backlash I don't see why a more complicated explanation is needed.
They aren't going to be able to collect the debt, not even close. Force them into a position where they have to keep lending to you, and hide your wealth well in fungible enterprises such as BTC, metals, collectibles, tools, etc etc etc..... Its every man for himself at this point.
She's going down, so grab what you can for the collapse. Don't hold cash or stock market investments. Inflation war and system collapse are going to wipe out what you think of now as a big debt. This is happening. Every single red light is blinking. The elites are about to S C R E W the Upper, Middle and working classes, again. Its pure parasitism.
my parents were on rations for their whole childhood and had no fridge or central heating until they were about 30, now they go on cruises after saving half of all their earnings and getting good interest. Hopefully they’ll be in a care home where they don’t get abused. Good for them ! Dont get why all boomers get the blame for government and banking policy changes designed to impoverish the current populations, are they supposed to understand all that ?
Just one example in my city. E-scooters, cheap and a efficient means of transportation for students and young workers who cannot afford a car were quickly banned for being “dangerous.”

Perhaps those geezers have already spent a lot of money on their own children, and are reluctant to finance those of more fecund minorities.

Sure, Woods for taoiseach; the Orangemen can stick with Starmer and King Charles (until their eventual assimilation).
Individual selfishness doesn't seem to be a generational trait; not in this society, anyway.
On Merry England's far famed shore,
May kind Heaven sweetly smile!
God bless old Scotland evermore,
And Ireland's Emerald Isle!
And may those ties of love be ours,
That discord cannot sever!
God save our King and Heaven bless,
The British realm forever!
Now there's a song for an antediluvian generation!
But shouldn't that last line be "The Maple Leaf forever"?
Though I can see why you shrank from posting "God Save the King."
Well, Taig, you're a clever lad! Yes. The lyrics are taken from The Maple Leaf. Your knowing this obscure song marks you as one of us antediluvians.
Oh, always a convenient excuse.
Excuse for what, exactly?

Why can't they just admit that they lived during the materially wealthiest times in the history of the West?

Well thought out and delivered. Keep up the good work Keith

The idea that a bunch of hippies cooked this up is preposterous.

Absolutely brilliant, Keith. Well done. Ask ChatGPT to create an infochart and send it your Boomer relatives.
“ChatGPT, make me a video of Dave Ramsey saying these things”
