He's obviously very smart, and the CTMU is definitely of great interest. But his understanding and language-use are those of an autodidact, he's obviously not been educated in the "system," and so isn't familiar with some of the academic lingo (e.g. his not catching what you meant by "libertarian free-will" and a few other occasions when he missed your nuance and thundered on :) ).
He must have carved his own path through books at a young age, and so knows some things very well that were current like 30 years ago, but misses out on other things that are more up-to-date. He probably wouldn't see that as a problem though (and really it isn't, except in terms of getting his work accepted by a mainstream that has a particular lingo that you only know if you've been through the mill).
